GSMA (GSM Association) and 17 global mobile operators and manufacturers, announced today that Barcelona will be the implementation of a universal charger standard, the goal in 2012 to implement universal charging solutions to global and Micro-USB as a universal Universal Charging interfaces.
The organization is expected that this will eliminate up to 51,000 tons of copies and the charger can be reduced by about 50% of the energy efficient standby power consumption of the charger.
GSMA CEO Rob Conway said members of the Board, in dealing with environmental issues, the mobile industry need to be playing a key role in the scheme can save significant resources.
